To asses cell-mediated immunity, the Multitest device simultaneously applies 7 standardized recall antigens (tetanus toxoid, diphtheria toxoid, streptococcus C, old tuberculin, candida albicans, trick ophyton mentagrophyte, proteus) and a 70% w/v glycerin diluent control.
Belayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) responsiveness is quantified by, a rate of reaction (number of ¢¥positive reaction/number of administered allergen), and the seconc` being the intensity of reaction (sum of size of positive reaction/number of administered allergen) ai. 48 hrs.
The aim of the present work is to evaluate DTH responses` in 81 cases including 20 cases of control, 20 cases of atopic dermatitis, 20 cases of leprosy, 11 cases of herpes zoster, 10 cases of herpes simplex.
The results obtained were as follows;
1 The state of hypoergy was more common in atopic dermatitis and herpes zoster than that of control, but not to be significant in leprosy and herpes simplex.
2. The anergic state was found in 2 patients with atopic dermatitis and 2 patients with herpes¢¥ zoster.
3. The rate of reactions in atopic dermatitis and herpes zoster were significantly lower than that of control, but it was not significant in leprosy and herpes simplex.
4. The intensity of reactions in atopic dermatitis, herpes zoster and leprosy were significantly lower than that of control, but it was not significant in herpes simplex.
